THE SPARROW HAS LANDED

I remember Dad saying to Mom, it's OK if she misses school today, this is something more important than anything she will learn in a classroom.  Mom gave in and Dad was right. I can still hear Walter Cronkite's comments and all of us holding our breath as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon saying "The Eagle has landed." It was awesome!  Not only did I get to miss school, but I had the coolest Dad on earth!
Daddy always saw the Big Picture.  He taught me to have an open mind when it came to just about anything.  He insisted that I not only listened to rock music, but all types including opera and classical and told me, "If you really want to love music, you need to love it all".  I guess that is why I have had a love affair with music ever since.  He was a tremendous artist. Some of his art work was a good as Audubon*s illustrations, but Daddy never thought they were good enough and showed them to very few people. He loved to laugh and loved jokes. Dad was always supportive of anything my sister and I did, he was our first sound man for our singing group "Sparrow" and he was the first person I ever gave one of my Chalk Drawings.
I could tell you of his Air Force and Civil Air Patrol Service and all the truly amazing gifted things he did, but the most important fact is that he wasn't always a saint, but he sure was saved. In the last few days of his life, he told the nurse at the hospital, he lived the first half of his life for the Devil, but the second half, he lived for the Lord.  She said, "Mr. Morgan, I am not good enough to go to Heaven." Dad replied *None of us are, but Jesus paid the price, so we could go." The last time they talked, he told her "I want to see you in Heaven".  She left his bedside crying.  Daddy was a most passionate man; he loved his wife, kids and grandkids with a passion.  But the greatest passion of his life was His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I picked up the phone today to ask what he thought about a picture I was doing, the phone rang and rang, it was then I remembered he had changed addresses.

On April 1st, 2010, my Dad, Ralph Morgan, after a battle with cancer, became a member of Heaven, he lifted his eyes to the sky and raised his hands and took flight.  We will all miss him, but we all know that...
The Sparrow has landed.

Big Bird's Perch

A cheerful heart is a good medicine; but a broken spirit drieth up the bones.

Proverbs 17:22

New in Church
After the service a young couple talked to a church member about joining the church. He hadn't met the husband before, and he asked what church he was transferring from.
After a short hesitation, he replied,"I am transferring from the Municipal Golf Course."

Hallelujah!
A college drama group presented a play in which one character would stand on a trap door and announce, "I descend into hell!" A stagehand below would then pull a rope, the trapdoor would spring, and the actor would drop from view. The play was well received. When the actor playing the part became ill, another actor who was quite overweight took his place. When the new actor announced, "I descend into hell!" the stagehand pulled the rope, and the actor began his plunge, but became hopelessly stuck. No amount of tugging on the rope could make him descend.
One student in the balcony jumped up and yelled:
"Hallelujah! Hell is full!"
